Workforce development and education items among priorities
The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Partnership today announced its legislative agenda in preparation for the upcoming regular legislative session, which convenes on January 13, 2015. In support of its agenda, the chamber released an issue brief that provides a snapshot of how each priority impacts economic development in Round Rock. The issue brief can be viewed here.
“Each component of our agenda has a profound influence on our ability to drive the economic vibrancy of our community,” said Mike Odom, the chamber’s president and CEO. “We are looking forward to the session and working with our legislative delegation on our priorities.”
The chamber’s 2015 legislative agenda consists of the following six items (in no particular order):
- Maintaining the Texas Enterprise Fund and Texas Emerging Technology Fund economic development incentives
- Supporting the construction funding for Texas State University – Round Rock Campus’ Health Professions #1 Building
- Enhancing the TEXAS Grant
- Ending the diversion of non-transportation and non-education funds from state motor fuels taxes
- Modifying the Skills Development Fund structure to ensure larger participation by smaller companies
- Funding the State Water Plan
